So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed. John 8:36
He is the only one that can set us free from death and sin and every negative circumstance in life. His words are life and truth and they give us life, truth, and freedom. But the main point is that you must believe in Jesus Christ as Lord and your Savior and you must believe his statement that He sets you free and you will be free indeed.
His word is life and truth as it says in John 6:63 “The Spirit gives life; the flesh counts for nothing. The words I have spoken to you–they are full of the Spirit and life. Jesus’ and only Jesus’ words impart life and truth to all who are His and listen. But His words cannot be limited to just Christians. They are so powerful that they can cut to the very heart of a human being.
Hebrews 4:12 “For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.” The verse tells us that it’s so active and powerful that it’s able to cut through the very division of the soul and spirit. It can even pierce down to the joints and marrow.
It’s active and powerful and it has been since the day God released it to create the universe and all that is known as creation. Jesus spoke words of life throughout the gospels and they have maintained the same living power since he spoke them while he lived on the earth.
If we investigate the gospels we will find many cases where Jesus spoke a word and healed people from sickness and demon possession. These powerful examples of His words produce power and truth for those who heard His word and responded in life and truth.
Explore these verses from Matthew 8:3, 13, 16-17 “Jesus reached out his hand and touched the man. “I am willing,” he said. “Be clean!” Immediately he was cleansed of his leprosy. Then Jesus said to the centurion, “Go! Let it be done just as you believed it would.” And his servant was healed at that moment. When evening came, many who were demon-possessed were brought to him, and he drove out the spirits with a word and healed all the sick. 17 This was to fulfill what was spoken through the prophet Isaiah: “He took up our infirmities and bore our diseases.
In the case of the leper, Jesus said “Be cleansed” and immediately the leprosy left the man and his skin was renewed and cleansed. Just by His word, the man was freed from a terminal disease. Remember, Hebrews 4:12 said that His word can pierce to the soul and spirit. This word He spoke to the leper divided to his soul and spirit. It eradicated the leprosy from his body. Truly, Jesus’ words are life and truth. It cannot be doubted.
