Redeemed From the Curse!

Redeemed From the Curse

“Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree”. Galatians 3:13

We hear and say this phrase all the time but do we really understand the significance of what Jesus did. He broke the curse over the earth and man and he freed us from the law of sin and death. He also freed us from the hold of satan. There is so much He did when He freed us from the curse of the law.

There was so much bondage related to the curse of the law and so many evil things would come upon the children of Israel. As long as they abide in God’s presence and obeyed Him then He covered them from the curse. If they rebelled against Him and walked in their own ways then the full power of the curse would come upon them.

God warned them to choose life over death and walk in His blessings. But time and time again they rebelled against His commands and walked in the curse. But when they walked in obedience then the power of God would dwell with them and He was able to perform miraculous deeds for them.

Now, when Jesus died for us he broke the curse of the law over us. The Holy Spirit came to dwell in the first believers in Jesus so the power of God now resides in every believer all the time. Jesus wiped out the curse of the law over us once and for all so it has no power over us.

Jesus wiped out the curse

In Deuteronomy 28:15-20, “But it shall come about, if you do not obey the Lord your God, to observe to do all His commandments and His statutes with which I charge you today, that all these curses will come upon you and overtake you: “Cursed shall you be in the city, and cursed shall you be in the country. “Cursed shall be your basket and your kneading bowl.

“Cursed shall be the offspring of your body and the produce of your ground, the increase of your herd and the young of your flock. “Cursed shall you be when you come in, and cursed shall you be when you go out. “The Lord will send upon you curses, confusion, and rebuke, in all you undertake to do until you are destroyed and until you perish quickly, on account of the evil of your deeds, because you have forsaken Me.”

These are a few of the things that would befall Israel when they forsook God and went their own stubborn way. But Jesus wiped all these curses off the books on Calvary. A modern day believer can repent of sinning against the Lord and be instantly healed and redeemed from the potential effects of the curse.

We need to be so thankful to Jesus for redeeming us from the curse of the law and making it possible for us to walk in the newness of life. Lord Jesus thank you for redeeming us from the curse of the law.
