His Peace Is Our Umpire

His Peace Is Our Umpire

And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful. Colossians 3:15 God’s peace needs to rule every action, word and decision we make in our lives. If His peace isn’t directing us then we need to step back and see why His peace isn’t leading us. If we are headed toward making a life-changing decision, without peace, we make the decision. It could ruin our lives. We need to go back to the throne of grace and ask for God’s wisdom to help us make the decision that will allow His peace to rule in our lives. If His peace rules in our lives then we know we are going in the direction and making the right life-changing decision or not making the life-changing decision.

Jesus was in the garden of Gethsemane and here is what He prayed in Luke 22:41-44 “And He was withdrawn from them about a stone’s throw, and He knelt down and prayed,  saying, “Father, if it is Your will, take this cup away from Me; nevertheless not My will, but Yours, be done.” Then an angel appeared to Him from heaven, strengthening Him.  And being in agony, He prayed more earnestly. Then His sweat became like great drops of blood falling down to the ground.

If he went His way and He didn’t fulfill His destiny to die on Calvary. Do you think God would have filled Him with peace in not walking the road to the cross? That decision would have eternal ramifications for Jesus and for all of mankind. The results of this decision would have had unspeakable eternal consequences for man.

He wouldn’t have the peace of God ruling in His heart if He followed through on that decision. He said “Your will be done, not mine.” He thankfully made the choice to walk to the cross and die on it for all of us. When He made that decision you better believe the peace of God ruled in His heart.

The standard we can live by is if God’s peace is ruling in our hearts while we make a decision then we are in God’s will and we are going in the direction He intended us to go. It’s for our well-being that His peace rules in our hearts in every decision we live by.

God’s peace

The best way for us to allow God’s peace to rule in our hearts is to meditate on  Colossians 3:15 until it becomes a part of us and transforms our minds so it will become second nature for His peace to rule in our hearts. How do we know if God’s peace is ruling in our hearts? If His peace that surpasses understanding is the dominating sense in our spirits then His peace is ruling in our spirits.

If His peace rules in our hearts then we will have success in every area of our lives. Do we understand how important it is for His peace to rule in our lives?
