Beyond Understanding

Beyond Understanding

God’s understanding is beyond human comprehension. This is why He sent us the Holy Spirit to guide us in all truth and to enlighten our minds so we can understand the ways of God. His ways are so far above our ways and His thoughts are far above our thoughts as well. Isaiah 55:9 explains this well “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.”

John 14:6 indicates that the Holy Spirit guides us into all the truth “However when He, the Spirit of Truth, is come, He will guide you into all truth; for He shall not speak from Himself, but whatsoever He shall hear, that shall He speak; and He will show you things to come.”  He helps us to interpret the mind and ways of God because without His supernatural intervention we cannot understand the bible which is the mind and ways of God.

Paul instructs us in 1 Corinthians 2 :6-8 “However, we speak wisdom among those who are mature, yet not the wisdom of this age, nor of the rulers of this age, who are coming to nothing.  But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, the hidden wisdom which God ordained before the ages for our glory,  which none of the rulers of this age knew; for had they known, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.”

wisdom of God

Paul states that even the devil didn’t know the hidden mystery of Christ in God. If he had known this mystery (the cross) he would have never directed men to crucify Jesus on the cross. Jesus stripped the enemy of all his authority, dominion, and power over men and he lost his right to rule the earth.

Who else but God would send His only begotten Son to die for mankind and restore the blessing and the rulership of the earth to men. See, how his thoughts and ways are so far above ours and the devil?

Paul continues in 1 Corinthians 2:10-16 “ But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God. For what man knows the things of a man except the spirit of the man which is in him? Even so, no one knows the things of God except the Spirit of God. Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might know the things that have been freely given to us by God. These things we also speak, not in words which man’s wisdom teaches but which the ]Holy Spirit teaches, comparing spiritual things with spiritual.  But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. 15 But he who is spiritual judges all things, yet he himself is rightly judged by no one.  For “who has known the mind of the Lord that he may instruct Him?” But we have the mind of Christ. So, even though God’s understanding is so far above ours we can understand as He does because we have the mind of Christ.
